Northern lights cabin - Activities and B&B

Overview

This tour is conducted by Roy Sætre Arctic Trip. A unique nature experience for two people. Feel the relaxing effect of sleeping surrounded by nature in a transparent, glass cabin. The tour is guided by a local family, one hour away from Tromsø city.

Are you searching for an authentic outdoor experience? Would you like to sleep under the northern lights? This is a private tour for 2 people with outdoor activities and accommodation in heated transparent mini-cabin. It is a unique experience to lie in a warm bed watching the northern lights, a beautiful natural phenomenon. You will be guided by Arctic Trip, a local outdoor family.

We are located in Nordkjosbotn, an hour drive by car from Tromsø on the mainland. To make this tour more Eco Friendly, you can arrive in Nordkjosbotn by using public transport. Bus number 100 from Tromsø towards Narvik, depart every day from Tromsø at 10:30 am. We can also organize private transport if needed.

We will meet you at Nordkjosbotn bus station. You will be introduced to snowshoeing, a winter activity which is really easy to learn and therefore suitable for anyone in reasonable shape. We will adjust our walk depending on how demanding activity you would like to have. Climb up to the mountains or just have a relaxed walk in the valley, just as you like. You can also change or combine the snowshoe walk with icefishing, skiing or hiking. Do not hesitate to contact us, it is always possible to customize the trip.

After the hike we will arrive at our camp, where you can relax in a traditional wood-burning finnish sauna with panorama view towards the mountains.

A three-course dinner will be served after the sauna. We will serve you homemade, local food; fish or meat with vegetables. For dessert, you will get berries from the area or homemade cake. If you are vegetarian or allergic, please let us know beforehand.

After the dinner it is time to make sure you have the right settings on your camera, in case the northern lights appear. If the sky is clear, you can see the northern lights from the camp. We will be guiding you and taking some pictures and videos with our equipment as well. Roy has over ten years experience in northern lights guiding, and will share of his knowledge and tips. In addition to traditional pictures, we also have equipment to take 360-pictures and 4k-video of the northern lights, if the conditions allow us to. All the pictures and videos are included in the price. If it is cloudy on our camp and there is possibility to find clear sky other places, you can hire me for 1000 NOK/hour to drive out to chase the aurora. Usually we will find clear sky within a maximum two hours drive from the camp.

Sleep in a transparent glass cabin and do not miss out on the aurora activity. The cabin is actually just a shelter, where you really will get the feeling of being surrounded by pure nature. If the sky is clear you will see millions of stars, and maybe the northern lights will show up during the night.

We will serve breakfast in the morning before leaving you back at the bus station in Nordkjosbotn. The bus will leave at 8:25 am and arrival at Tromsø Prostneset is 9:25 am.
