The northern lights, or the aurora as it is also called, is a light show produced by nature itself.
It starts on the sun a few days earlier and ends with the colorful and marvelous display of lights on the night sky placed in a ring around the magnetic poles. Tromsø is situated perfectly to see this spectacular light show even under Solar minimum. Your guide on this personal chase is an aurora professor with many years of teaching experience. He is also an astronomer with good knowledge of the night sky and how to keep you warm while observing. The guide has used camera in his research of the aurora and can give professional help to those who want to take their own pictures of the aurora. During the time under the aurora we will take pictures of anyone who want a picture of themself with the aurora. Pictures are distribuated on email the day after free of charge.
Somethimes our chase for the aurora takes us 200 km from Tromsø. Much of the time is then spend inside the car. Our guide has 33 years of driving experince under winter conditions and will ensure safe transport both in and outside the car. The car, which is a minivan with 7 seats, takes up to 6 guests and there are discounts for group bookings.
Pick up and return is free of choice within the city center. Start is 18:30 and the tour ends normally around 1am.
