Northern Lights Tour by Bus
Join our mission to show you the magical northern lights. We will be taking you to some prime locations with the highest chances of witnessing this natural phenomenon.
This tour is conducted by Norwegian Travel.
Departing from the city center of Tromsø, our guides, well-prepared where to drive for the evening, will welcome you aboard the bus and share their research by explaining the science and legends of the mystical northern lights.
Tromsø is a prime location to chase the northern lights, being surrounded by plenty of different geographically defined climate zones reachable within one evening: Sometimes our guides will choose to drive towards the coastal islands, sometimes they will aim for the clear skies showing towards the mainland (Finland).
When we are lucky to witness the northern lights dancing in the sky, we will step outside the bus on a safe location, away from city light pollution. To keep you warm, our guides will offer a warm drink while we wait outside, enjoying the spectacle.
Our photography guide will help you capture this magical moment, either by taking your portrait with the aurora, or by helping you setting up your own camera. We will stay in one location or move around from one to the other, depending on the weather conditions and how long and in what strength we get to witness the aurora spectacle.
At the end of the night, we will return to the city center of Tromsø, hopefully with beautiful memories of the dancing northern lights and plenty of photos to show for it.

Please bring: • Warm winter clothing, in layers of wool and a down jacket
• Hat, mittens, scarf and warm socks
• Camera and tripod (optional)
Good to know: • The time of return to Tromsø depends on the course of the tour: the distance of the chase, weather conditions and the northern lights displays.
• We cannot guarantee seeing the northern lights, as they are a natural phenomenon.
Still, we promise to use all our experience to maximize our chances of a successful chase.
• There is no refund if the northern lights do not appear. However, you can book a second tour at 50% discount at the Norwegian Tavel Sales Shop in Tromsø.
• This tour does not include dinner (full meal)
• Thermal suits, boots and tripods can be rented at the meeting point (subject to availability)
Restrictions: • Pets are not allowed on this tour.
• Alcohol consumption is not allowed on the tour. We reserve the right to refuse access to intoxicated guests.

Accessibility: • No specific accessibility features aboard the bus (e.g. wheelchair lift or wide isle)
• Accessible for manual wheelchair / walker / cane users who can independently maneuver in and out of the bus (possibly multiple times throughout the night) by using the stairs (max 6 steps).
• The bathroom facilities aboard the bus are very small, offering limited space to move.
• Wheelblades could be beneficial for walker or wheelchair users.
• Outside terrain on the location can be varied and challenging to maneuver.
