The Norwegian Jekt Trade Museum in Bodø takes you on board a voyage into the exciting history of maritime navigation and trade along the Norwegian coast. Our unique preserved Jekt Anna Karoline is the hub of our exhibition.

At the new Norwegian Jekt Trade Museum, which was completed in 2019, you get an insight into a dramatic story. It was the Jekt (type of boat) that made it possible to transport stock fish to Bergen and other necessary goods back to Northern Norway. The journey was done in all kinds of weather and some of the storytelling is about crew risking their own life at sea, trade, power, profit and risk.

About 3000 jekt ships have operated along the Norwegian coast through the ages. Now only a few are left. At the Norwegian Jekt Trade Museum is the jekt Anna Karoline, one of three surviving jekts in Norway.

A visit to the museum should also include the gift shop and the cafeteria.

You find the museum close to Bodø city center and Bodø Airport.
