The Norwegian Museum of the Deaf is housed in the former boarding school (1855-1991) for deaf pupils from Trøndelag and Northern Norway. This is a national museum showcasing the culture, history and language of the deaf with a focus on communication and understanding. The exhibition uses examples for a dialogue about abnormality and normality.
The exhibition features interactive touch screens with videos in sign language with captions and sound, as well as objects, text and photos that provide an insight into the history, language and culture. Visit Room X – a completely silent experience, where you will communicate visually.
