Norwegian nature and food culture on the plate

The richness of Norwegian nature has provided our people with great food treasures. Throughout history making Norwegian products such as white and brown goats cheese, cured meats and fish has been necessary for survival, and protecting the old ways is such an important mission.

As we go on walks or herding sheep, we aim to teach both our local young ones and visitors about Norwegian food and heritage to keep our treasures in a world spinning faster and faster.

Kultur på fatet offers both know-how and visits to authentic farms and hand craft workers. On request we can take you on adventures to hidden gems in the Aurlandsdalen Valley and surrounding area.

Østerbø - Heimrebø

This hike, through the gorgeous Aurlandsdalen valley, includes lunch from traditional and local food, and takes about 4-5 hours. Price: Adults NOK 695 / Children NOK 495 Booking

Østerbø - Nesbø

This hike starts at Østerbø (820 masl) and finishes at Nesbø farm. Your guide will tell you all about the history in the valley and how norwegians lived and worked on remote summer farms right up until the 1900s. This hike takes around 2.5 hours and include a local lunch. Price: Adults NOK 495 / Chilrdren NOK 295 Booking

Stondalen - Vassbygdi

From our starting point, the trail climbs up to 1000masl, rewarding us with fantastic views over the landscape and the small town of Vassbygdi. From here we set out to reach the summer farm of “Frivoll” and down towards the old farm “Teigen”. At Teigen we sit down and have lunch, enjoying traditional and local food. This is a 6 hour hike with lunch included in the price. Price: Adult NOK 695 / Childre NOK 495 Booking
