Every Thursday and Sunday we will give you the opportunity to visit Ny-Ålesund. This is a former mining town and also starting point for famous explorers race to the North pole. Roald Amundsen, known as the first person, both to the South- and North-pole, used Ny-Ålesund as his starting point when he reached the pole in 1926 with the Airship NORGE.

We pick you up and take you to the harbor where we have our boat. This is a closed RIB boat with panorama view. Its warm and comfortable inside, the boat has toilets and we serve drinks and food onboard.

After the safety briefing we will head out to Isfjorden and set course north. On our way through Forlandssundet we will pas Poolepynten. This is well known walrus hole-out place. We will have a brief stop here to take a closer look at the walruses. After 3-4 hours drive we will reach Kongsfjorden. In clear weather we will see Tre kroner, three nunataks that sticks out of the beautiful Kongbreen glacier. Kongsfjorden is very often filled with icebergs that has been calving from the huge glaciers that surrounding the fjord.

When we arrive Ny-Ålesund we will go ashore to explore this cozy little town with so much history. We will visit the mast where Roald Amundsen attached his Airship wile he was waiting to set of to the North pole. Here we will also find northern most post office where you can stamp your passport and/or sending postcards. After the guided tour you will have time to shop souvenirs in the northern most shop in the world. Before we head back to Longyearbyen we will find a nice spot where we will enjoy our lunch.

Better Moments have the right to change the route and destination if the weather is not good enough.  We can never guaranty wildlife, however we drive in areas who is well known for its wildlife.
