Harøy offers excellent fishing opportunities, with several fishing spots in the surrounding area. In addition to fishing with hand lines for cod, haddock, coalfish, or mackerel, there may also be opportunities to use simple nets for flatfish or crab traps for crabbing. Cycling is popular on the relatively flat Harøya. There are also well-developed and marked hiking trails. A hike to Harøyburet (156 m) offers views of the mountains and sea between Breisundet and Vevang on clear days.
