In the heart of the beautiful and wild Olden lies Olden Farm. This is an original cluster farm where the Brynestad families built their homesteads and have lived as farmers, cultivating the fertile lands of Olden for over 700 years.

Olden Farm is surrounded by mountains soaring over 1500 meters. Every winter, several snow avalanches fall nearby, and the farm was built on the safest spot the farmers could find.

Today, two of the original family lines have recently started a farm tourism initiative. Their goal is to showcase the old, authentic houses from the 18th century, priceless paintings created by an ancestor in the early 1900s, and the traditional farming tools used in the 1700s and 1800s to provide food for their families.

In the ancient hearth, you’ll see how they used to cook their meals, and you can stroll around and enjoy the peace and quiet of a historic yet living farmyard.

The animals on the farm love cuddles and attention, and visitors are welcome to help feed them. Rabbits hop around happily, enjoying fresh twigs to nibble, sheep love a good scratch behind the ear, and the hens may have laid an egg or two for you to collect.

You can also book a guided tour with storytelling about both the farm and Olden itself. One of the owners will take you on a journey back in time, sharing how life on the farm has been since the 1400s. You'll get to step inside and see how they lived in the 1800s—and perhaps learn something about Norwegian farm life over the past 700 years.

Souvenirs from the farm are available for purchase, and if you’d like to sit down and soak in the countryside atmosphere, coffee, tea, soft drinks, and cakes are also on offer.
