Welcome to Papirbredden and the cultural quarter in Drammen! Drammen Library and the University of South-Eastern Norway - Campus Drammen is the main attraction. In the same area, you'll find the cultural quarter with Union Scene, Buskerud Kunstsenter, Drammen Kulturhus, Galleri Athene, and the blacksmith artist Marcus Mars.
Papirbredden and the cultural quarter in Drammen has undergone a significant upgrade in recent years and has much to offer residents and visitors to the city.
Papirbredden, formerly known as Grønland, was once an industrial area focused on paper production and worker housing. Now, it is a modern and vibrant area. One of the main attractions here is the Knowledge Park Papirbredden, which houses the Drammen Library and the University of South-Eastern Norway - Campus Drammen.
In addition to the Knowledge Park, you'll find the cultural quarter with Union Scene in the old paper halls at Grønland. Union Scene is a great concert venue with a unique program and is the city's most significant cultural centre. Within the cultural quarter, you'll also find the artist and blacksmith Marcus Mars, the Buskerud Art Center, Gallery Athene, and the city's most intimate and privately owned Drammen Cultural Center.
The area also boasts a beautiful pedestrian and bicycle bridge called Ypsilon. Following the river, you'll also come across Ælvebadstua - a bathing spot open year-round! Adjacent to the art and cultural arenas is the idyllic and lush Union Park, with an amphi, sculptures, and an activity roof.
Papirbredden is also a residential area with a wide selection of apartments and student housing. It is a popular place to live for both students and permanent residents.
Best of all, Papirbredden is within walking distance from Drammen Station, where you can take the airport train, buses, and taxis to get around the city and to other destinations. We hope you have a great experience at Papirbredden and in Drammen!
