Personal Whale Safari from Tromsø

This tour is conducted by Njord Adventures. From November to January, the fjords north of Tromsø come alive with orcas, humpback whales, and fin whales as they gather for their yearly feast on Atlantic herring.

Experience a personal and hassle-free whale watching adventure, where you can witness these ocean giants in their natural environment while taking in the raw, untamed beauty of Northern Norway.

The journey to the whales takes approximately 2.5 hours, during which you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the ocean, mountains, fjords, and the polar night of Northern Norway. On the way, we will navigate through various areas with differing sea conditions, from more sheltered waters to the everyday adventure of crossing Lyngenfjord. When we reach the whales, we slow down and take our time. There is no strict schedule – the whales and the weather dictate the pace.

Throughout the day, you will be looked after by our friendly and experienced crew, who have many years of firsthand knowledge of the sea, nature, and wildlife of Northern Norway. We have tea, coffee, and biscuits available free of charge, and also serve a light soup lunch on the way back to Tromsø.

Our boat, MS Sylvkallen, is a 17-metre monohull with two cosy indoor lounges and a spacious deck. As the smallest boat offering daily whale watching trips from Tromsø, she is ideal for those wanting a closer-to-the-elements experience while still enjoying the comfort of warm indoor areas. Fully equipped with all necessary safety equipment, Sylvkallen is a sturdy and seaworthy boat, perfectly suited for the northern sea conditions.

Come share a day with us, the whales, and the beauty of Northern Norway!
