The pilgrimage trail through Halden is approximately 50 kilometers long, starting / ending at Elgåfossen (waterfall) - just at the border to Sweden.
From the border waterfall, follow the Iddefjorden / road 22, through downtown Halden, before continuing north-west towards Sarpsborg.
The trip through Halden takes us past places of both ancient and recent history.
The first part of the stretch - to Snekketorp - the Pilgrim Trail and the Coastal Trail follow the same trace. Just before Bakke, the pilgrimage trail and the coastal path enter Karl XII's road towards Fredriksten fortress.
Along the way there are several information boards, both for the coastal path and the pilgrimage route. Possible accommodations along the way are Bråtorp camping, Bakke camping, Langholmen Camping, hotels in Halden and Hök cafeteria & motel. In Halden there are several eateries.
