Overview

Pack your camera gear and embark on this 6-hour photography tour around the best photo locations in western Lofoten!

Lofoten is a unique destination at the world's edge. Small and remote, this untamed cluster of islands has everything a photographer dreams of. Jaw-dropping natural sights, jagged rock formations, picturesque fishing villages and fairytale views. The photo motifs that Lofoten offer will make the heart of every photography and nature enthusiast beat faster.

Pack your camera gear and embark on this 6-hour photography tour around the best photo locations in western Lofoten! You can expect epic landscapes with ever-changing weather and light.

The tour starts in the evening at our basecamp in Hamnøy, for a chance to capture the surreal timelapse picture of the midnight sun almost touching the horizon and then rising again. The midnight sun period in Lofoten lasts from 27th of May to 17th of July.

Outside of these dates, the sun will set below the horizon, allowing us to take pictures during the magical golden hour when the light is soft and warm. The photos you can take during these moments capture a particular atmosphere almost impossible to replicate during any other time of the day. The varied photo motifs of the Lofoten Islands are perfect for experimenting with long-term exposures using ND filters.

As Lofoten consists of several big and small mountainous islands reaching out into the sea, each island has its own microclimate. That means you can have a thick low-lying fog covering the northern part of the islands while the southern part baths in sunshine. Therefore, our professional guide will tailor the itinerary according to the weather and light conditions.

You do not need to be a professional photographer to join this tour – it is also an excellent option for sightseeing and enjoying Lofoten's sights that are impossible to reach by public transport at this time of the day.
