Northern Norway Troms og Finnmark HARSTAD

Private snowshoe tour to Keipen

  • Sjøgata 3, Harstad

Overview

Experience the regions most fantastic view of fjords and mountains with a campfire and food on Keipen. From 1050 NOK.

Experience the regions most fantastic view of fjords and mountains with a campfire and food on Keipen.

It is a tradition in Northern-Norway to make outdoor experiences even better with a campfire and food-prepping on top of the mountain. This amazing experience is something we want to offer you.

We start the trip from our store in the center of Harstad. 25 minutes and after a short drive by car we will be at 350 meters above the sea from where we will start our hike. Before we start, we'll adjust our snowshoes and go through a short briefing.

After a short while hiking, we will pass the tree border and get a taste of the view that is awaiting us from the top. It only takes about an 1 hour to reach the top of Keipen at 500 meters above the sea and from here we will get a fantastic panorama view of Toppsundet, Kasfjord and Andfjord. On the other side we have a view towards the steep mountains of Grytøya, that still tell a tale of the last ice age.

The way to the top offers many different places to have a break, drink something and hear a bit more about the nature around us. Once we reach the top we'll have a longer break, enjoy a warm drink, start a fire and prepare our food on the flames.

To enjoy this trip you need good hiking/winter shoes and good clothing - ask us if you are unsure what type of clothing is well suited for such a tripThe trail can vary quite a lot form medium to difficult, depending on snow, ice and wind. Therefore we recommend you to be in a good physical form and have been on snowshoes before.

We also recommend you to have some experience in mountain trails since the path is a mixture of rocks, earth and some roots that can be slippery.

If you want to experience the unique Norwegian nature, dominated by deep fjords and steep mountainside, then this medium to difficult hiking trail is for you.
