Overview

At first sight, a brick church from the 1800s but actually a medieval stone church dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

At first sight, a brick church from the 1800s but actually a medieval stone church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The church gained its present appearance in 1875. A clock in the tower is all that remains of the medieval fittings, a typical Gothic clock with pilgrims' tokens and inscriptions.
The other clock dates from 1776. The altarpiece from 1696, the baptismal font and the pulpit from apx 1700 have been preserved. All the other fittings were replaced in 1875.

Getting there
2 km south of Rakkestad centre on Rv 22 towards Halden.
