Reindeer Sledding & Ice Domes Guided Tour - Incl. Transport
Get close to the majestic and festive creatures and learn about the people that have been herding them for centuries. Come on this reindeer sledding experience and guided Ice Domes tour. Meet the indigenous Sami people as you learn about their culture and interact with and feed their reindeers. Marvel at the incredible ice sculptures and snow carvings, learn about the construction process of the domes, the impact the snow has for all life in the Arctic and have a non-alcoholic ice shot at the ice bar.
Join us for an authentic experience at our wilderness center, Camp Tamok.
For this tour you will be picked up from the city center of Tromsø, from where you will be taken to Camp Tamok, a 90-minute scenic bus drive away.
Upon arrival, you will head off to explore the ancient part of Sami culture and try the oldest form of transport in the North. As our reindeer herd is some distance from our barking huskies, this activity will start with a short transfer by minibus to our Sami Camp.
This fascinating cultural adventure includes reindeer sledding, an introduction to lasso throwing, storytelling about the Sami culture and feeding the reindeer. There are 5 – 6 reindeer at the camp.
After the reindeer sledding activity, we will serve lunch and your adventures will continue with a guided tour of the Ice Domes.
As part of this combination tour, there will be some free time to walk around by yourself and visit the reindeer that are herding next to the Ice Domes. Eventually, your daytime adventure has come to an end, and it will be time to board the bus back to Tromsø city center.
