Immerse yourself in the culture of the indigenous Sami people on this authentic reindeer sledding experience at Camp Tamok.
This tour is conducted by Norwegian Travel.
Note: This option does not include bus transportation. Please meet up at Camp Tamok at 10:15am (10:15).
Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, you will be warmly greeted by your guide and outfitted with the essential gear including thermal suits, boots, and gloves, ensuring comfort and warmth for the adventure ahead. As our reindeer herd is some distance away from the dog yard, this activity will start with a short transfer by minibus to our Sami camp.
Reindeer sledding has been practiced for thousands of years and is therefore deeply rooted in the traditions and way of life of the indigenous Sami people. It has been an integral part of Arctic livelihoods and transportation for generations, making it one of the oldest forms of transportation in this region.
This cultural adventure includes a reindeer sledding tour, storytelling about the fascinating Sami culture and feeding of the reindeer. There are about 5-6 reindeer in the camp.
After your encounter with the reindeer, you will return to Camp Tamok. To complete the experience, you can relax with a warm meal and drink by the open fire inside one of the lávvu (indigenous Sámi tent).
