Food with meaning

At Rekkedal Gjestegard, a meal is about more than just satisfying your hunger. All food is prepared from scratch, using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, inspired by both traditional recipes and modern touches. There is no fixed menu – each meal is tailored to the occasion and the wishes of the guests. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine or homemade elderflower juice from the farm, and are invited to hear the story of Rekkedal, told by the hosts themselves.

Experiences that leave a lasting impression

Set among traditional farm buildings dating back to the 1500s, Rekkedal Gjestegard offers a combination of local food, storytelling and cultural walks. The farm is located near idyllic Sæbø and the Hjørundfjord – an area known for its dramatic landscapes and authentic experiences. Outdoor adventures are also available, from gentle walks to summit hikes in the iconic Sunnmøre Alps, with spectacular views and fresh mountain air to complement the food.

A farmstead with history

The guest farm is part of an ancient family property, with roots dating back to the year 500. The current buildings are from the 1500s, and today’s hosts, Karen Rekkedal and Tov Lerheim, represent the 20th generation on the farm. The history is felt in every wall, creating a genuine and intimate atmosphere that gives each event a personal touch.

Practical information

Rekkedal Gjestegard is open for pre-booked groups and offers food and cultural experiences combined with nature activities and accommodation. Full packages can be tailored to suit both private groups and corporate events. Closed on Sundays and Mondays.
