Restaurant 1877 is located in the venerable meat bazaar – Kjøttbasaren - right in the city centre of Bergen.1877 was the year when the market opened, and with a décor inspired by its historic location, and a distinctive focus on cultural references in the use of food, cutlery, crockery and interior, we believe that we are managing our heritage well, and we hope to invoke nostalgic feelings for our guests.

A meal at Restaurant 1877 is prepared with knowledge and love for food. Our menus are built on our close relationship with local suppliers. Furthermore, we focus on Norwegian food culture, and we are especially inspired by the Western agriculture.

Bergen is known for its strong weather cover and humid climate, and the seasonal fluctuations evoke exciting flavors and the finest raw materials. Experiencing both spring, summer, autumn and winter on the same day is not uncommon in Bergen. Most people will find it a challenge - in our kitchen, it leads to creativity, inspiration and diversity. Champagne lunch available on the first Saturday of every month, and afternoon tea on the remaining Saturdays. Open from 13:00 to 16:30.
