Revtangen and the area by Orrevatn lake are known for their rich and varied bird life. Just within Revtangen, Museum Stavanger has a tagging station where between 6 000 and 12 000 migratory birds are tagged each year. This involves close to 150 different species, sometimes more. Revtangen bird observatory was established in 1937 and is open to the public.
If you walk from the beach up to the edge, you have a fantastic view in all directions. Looking north you can see Hodne and Borestranden beaches, in the east lake Orrevatn and in the ocean you will see Feisteinen lighthouse.
