RIYFF is an annual international film festival aimed for filmmakers and the broad public. This years` festival program will offer:

- excellent films from all over the world

- stimulating international environment

- many fun activities for everyone and families

- exciting workshops

-interesting attractions in the region of Ringerike

The RIYFF will be held 6-10th of November in the city of Hønefoss, Norway.


Our RIYFF is a unique film event and very important platform for young people as film and video is the strongest medium nowadays. The Festival showcases films made by young filmmakers 14-26 years of age from the entire world. The “Ringerike International Youth Film Festival” is an important platform for new talent and cinematic creativity. The Festival accepts a broad selection of work made by young filmmakers in the categories: short fiction, documentaries, animation and music video. Selected filmmakers will receive festival passes to attend the festival and the opportunity to participate in the directors`Q&A after their screening.


RIYFF 2018 - there is something for everyone!

This year`s festival offers a large variety of screenings and activities for everyone. 43 films from 21 countries are running the international competition, with the family-friendly "Film of the Day" and our special screenings more than 50 films are screened throughout the festival. There will be workshops for filmmakers and students as well as a "Family Day" with a Drop-In Animation Workshop for young and old.

We are looking forward to several exciting films made in the Ringerike municipality (e.g. "The Painful Truth" by Steinar Hybertsen, "The New Wave" by Carl August Klevjer, "Ali Aker av Kali feat. Yung Charli" made by students from Ringerike High School, "Unseen" by Andrew Ogorodnikov or "Student films presented by the Ringerike Kulturskole").
