At the very top of the Haldenkanalen you'll find Hølandselva (Høland river); here we will explore the kingdom of the beavers. All you need to think about is putting on your hiking clothes, the company "Wild Oslo" takes care of the rest. At the end of the trip, they serve a meal by the fire, it's very idyllic, and a time you will not forget.
The trip is not yet bookable - but we will soon come out with fixed dates for the trip.
You can also order outside of these days - if you are a group.
A little about the trip
They have chosen to use a canoe on their safari because you get much closer to the beaver on the river than on foot. Although the tour has been made for favorable times in terms of seeing beavers, we cannot guarantee that the beaver will swim by. It's wilderness life, so they don't come when we order. However, Wild Oslo will guarantee that you will see beaver huts and traces of the beaver's work. You get to see and learn about the beaver's life and appearance. They can also promise that the paddling trip - the way to the destination - will be beautiful and safe. The river safari also offers other wildlife and a wilderness experience. The guide is like a friend who takes you on a trip - and your speed is their speed.
I would like to do that once, many people say. No reason to wait, order today.
Equipment and clothing
Meet in hiking clothes. Bring a camera and binoculars if you want. The guide takes pictures which "Wild Oslo" will send to you. They have stable and good quality canoes and kayaks, oars and vests. You get good instructions, so that paddling will be like a dream. At the end of the tour, there will be hot local food around the fire (under the open sky or under a roof). Finally, you are driven back to the start.
Who and how many
Take grandma or the kids with you. The trip is suitable for most people. But you have to be able to keep calm, otherwise there won't be many beavers to see. They envisage groups of 10 people, but please get in touch if there are several peaoåple who wants to go.
The guides
Bianca: Keen nature manager who likes to show you Norwegian nature and wildlife. She has a lot of enjoyment of nature and outdoor interests and loves to share experiences and curiosity with others. She has lived both in Alaska and Finnmark to live the wilderness life, but now lives in Østfold and has the region as a new playground for work and leisure.
Nikolai: is a committed biologist who happily shares his knowledge. He works with field management so that it becomes nature full-time and he knows the field in the region like his own patch of garden. Be ready for a beaver safari where you will gain new knowledge about beavers and everything else you see.
