Rjukan Admini er et lite og eksklusivt hotell med 18 rom som ligger tilbaketrukket i en vakker engelskinspirert park med gangavstand til Rjukan sentrum.
Rjukan Admini is a small and exclusive hotel with 18 rooms; both single rooms, double rooms, suites and junior suites. You can stay in the beautiful surroundings whether you are on a family trip, a romantic weekend trip, celebrating an event or are part of a company that needs an inspiring meeting place.
The hotel offers an experience that contrasts with modern everyday life and despite small changes and modernisations, the mansion has retained its soul and historical character. In the past, only specially selected people were allowed into the Adminiet at Rjukan, but now YOU can live like royalty.
The hotel is cozy and secluded in a beautiful English-inspired park within walking distance to the center of Rjukan and close to many attractions and beautiful nature. Here you can lower your shoulders and let yourself be taken in by the special atmosphere that prevails.
History of Admini Hotel
Several royals have been guests at the Admini over the years. Already in 1909, King Haakon spent the night there when he opened the Rjukan railway. Later, his son King Olav was a guest while he was still Crown Prince with his Princess Märtha, who later had one of the suites named after her. This was the room where King Harald and Queen Sonja spent the night on their last visit together.
However, Queen Sonja has been a guest on several occasions. In addition to royalty, several prominent guests have also stayed overnight, such as former Prime Minister from Israel Ben Gurion, the Shah of Persia with his wife Fara Dibah and the heavy water saboteurs to name a few.
One of the leading architects of the time, Thorvald Astrup, designed the building and it is today considered to be one of the most beautiful wooden buildings in the Art Nouveau style that can be found in Norway.
Rjukan Admini was built by Norsk Hydro's founder Sam Eyde in 1908 with the hope that a majestic representative residence would impress well-capitalized business connections; something it did. The building was owned by Norsk Hydro until 2015 and has been a well-kept secret for many years.
