If you enjoy an uphill challenge, this is the trip for you. The route follows Peer Gynt seterveg all the way from Rondablikk to its highest point, Krøkla.
This is a trip for those looking to get the pulse going whilst at the same time enjoying nature, the scenery, and the many surprises along the way.
With Rondablikk as starting point, the route follows Peer Gynt seterveg past Kvamsnysætrin and Fryvollan, and then continues on to Fiskedalen and up to Krøkla.
After gentle start down from Rondablikk and past Hovdemyra, you will reach Frya. Frya is a river flowing from lake Furusjøen and down through the valley. You will cross this river several times, and the fishing opportunities are excellent. The landscape then levels out along Nysetervegen, past Kvamsnysætrin, and on to Fryvollan.
Fryvollan
At Fryvollan, you will find a couple of mountain farms no longer in operation. From here, continue up towards Øygardssetra or Eldåa – and then towards Rondane. Ride through Fiskedalen where the climb up Krøkla starts. Skoesetra was formerly home to the Peer Gynt festival, and this explains the small stage. Perhaps the perfect spot for a coffee break?
Fiskedalen mountain-farm area
At Fiskedalen, there are several mountain farms still in operation. There is also a newly restored waterwheel by Seterlysa.
From Fiskedalen, the route continues towards the idyllic fishing lake, Storvatnet. Further on from Storvatnet you will find "Akilles" – a hideout for the home front during the war. This is signposted all the way up to this small bridge. From Storvatnet, you can ride via Bergemillom back to Kvamsfjellet and Rondablikk. The trail is partially way-marked, but is of limited quality and has to be navigated mostly by foot. Øykjelykkjesetra
Øykjelykkjesetra
Øykjelykkjesetra is a mountain farm sitting on the hill by Indre Fiskedalen – a rare cultural gem. During summer, there are poetry readings, concerts, and other cultural events in the converted barn.
