Rowing boats have been used on Svalbard since the early nineteen-hundreds. Now it's your turn to grab the oars and row your own boat!
On this excursion, we will row across the Advenfjord in modern, sturdy row bats. Each boat will have two or three people. Your experienced tour guide will be in a separate boat as a safety measurement. The rowing trip across Adventfjord is approximately 3 kilometers.
Once we reach the other side of the fjord, we'll leave the rowing boats and prepare to hike up to Sneheim at 582 meters above sea level. This hike is steep and rocky. You need to be in good physical condition to make this climb. Once we reach Sneheim, we'll give you a guided tour of the historical meaning of this old, abandoned mining settlement. This is also where we'll eat lunch and grab something hot or cold to drink.
This is a new excursion that allows you to experience Svalbard in a traditional and different way. No previous rowing experience is necessary to join this trip.
All participants must dress in warm, windproof clothes. We recommended shell layers that are waterproof, windproof and breathable. An innerlayer of wool is also recommeneded. Bring a backpack with extra clothing, such as gloves and a hat, as well as any personal equipment. Solid, strong hiking boots is a requirement.
