Lillesand
"Lillesand should be seen from a boat", say the wooden boat enthusiasts in Blindleia Kystlag.
At Verven Kystkultursenter in Lillesand you can borrow a rowing boat for free - if you provide a life jacket yourself. (You can rent vests from the Red Cross at the guest pier, or borrow from BUA Lillesand).
The nostalgic rowing boats have been restored by Blindleia Kystlag's members, and they organize the lending. The system is simple: At the coastal center you will find one mailbox and two telephone numbers. If you call one of them, you will be given the code that allows you to lock up the boat. In the mailbox, enter your name, telephone number and how long you plan to be on the trip.
The boats can only be borrowed for excursions to Saltholmen lighthouse, the ice cream parlor on Slåttholmen or the adventure island Skauerøya.
If you would like to borrow the boat overnight, it is perfectly ok, as long as you let them know in advance.
At Saltholmen lighthouse you can rent a bed for the night, and tents and other hiking equipment can be borrowed at BUA Lillesand.
