Rugged nature and wildlife in Arctic Norway - sailing through Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja

  •  /  km From You
Overview

July 28 - August 4, 2019 - 8 days - NOK 12.800 Come sailing with us through Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja, to Tromsø and enjoy an active holiday with lots to see, do and learn along the way. We start in the alpine region of Lofoten and end up in the arctic region of Tromsø. This is the holiday for you who want to explore the magnificent nature that the arctic mainland has to offer, and to get up close and personal with the north of Norway’s rich bird and animal life.

We will start our journey by sailing along the foot of Lofoton’s spectacular mountains until we reach Hinnøya. We’ll climb Vesterålen’s highest mountain, Møysalen. After that we’ll continue north through Vesterålen until we reach Andøya. Here we’ll stop to visit bird nesting cliffs and the unique cultural landscape in the fishing village of Bleik. We’ll then sail around the tip of Andenes on the way to Senja, which is a good place for spotting whales. When we reach Senja we will seek haven at Bergfjorden’s idyllic Hamn. Our journey then takes us to Sommarøy where we’ll anchor up surrounded by sandy beaches. We finalize with a regatta on the last day that ends in Tromsø; the Paris of northtern Norway. Along the way we can kayak and fish our own food. As on all our trips, you’ll learn to sail along the way, experience and overcome challenges and make friends for life!

Sailing level

This is a sailing trip possible to do for most travellers! Sailing-wise the trip is not particularly difficult, but you must be prepared for both wind and sailing in rough weather. Are you a beginner, we want to make you into a seaman/woman as quickly as possible and are you experienced you will get challenges and responsibility on your level.

Travel

We recommend all our customers to travel as environmentally friendly as possible. Travelling by train, or driving together is the best option. Traveling slowly also adds a whole other dimension to your vacation, rather than just flying above all the beautiful places our country has to offer.

Changes in the program

This program is a rough outline program as an ambition for the week. As we sail along we will adapt to weather conditions and there might be changes in the program. The aim however remains the same; to have the most amazing week possible. And with us under way we always have dinghies for beaching and small expeditions, we have fishing gear for the cod, and ashore there is often wood for the bondfire - we are ready to flex the program and adventure together!
