At Rundt & Rundt Redesign, Grandma’s old tablecloth can be transformed into a stylish bread basket.
Toiletry bags, spectacle cases, makeup bags, ear rings and lunch bags are just a few examples of what Sylvia Henriksen is capable of producing from outdated curtains, old bedding or fabric samples from furniture stores.
Henriksen is originally from Svolvær, and after studying graphic design, arts and crafts in London and Oslo, the North once again called out to her. Ten years ago, she established Rundt & Rundt Redesign in Kabelvåg - an open workshop with a retail outlet.
The site has an environmentally friendly profile, and Sylvia Henriksen is keen to show that it is entirely possible to recycle many materials and objects that were originally destined for the skip.
The workshop retail outlet offers a rich selection of products made by Sylvia Henriksen. In addition, customers can bring along their own old textiles, and have them upcycled through her unique design into something new and useful. In this way, an embroidered tablecloth is transformed into a fetching bread basket or perhaps a small pile of cloth napkins – at the same time paying tribute to the person who once upon a time, spent hours upon hours on the needlework.
In between Henriksen’s textile products you will also find paintings by Bjørn Tore Stavang.
The arts and crafts master sews and designs in her shop, and is always more than happy to discuss recycling and upcycling while she works. If this inspires you to bring out your own sewing machine at home, she will be delighted.

... Sylvia Henriksen also has a keen eye for photography? Postcards adorned with her photographs can be found on sale at Rundt & Rundt Redesign.
Rundt & Rundt Redesign is at the centre of the pedestrian street in Kabelvåg. A stroll through these welcoming streets lined with old wooden houses is highly recommended. Feel free to stop by for a coffee in the square or have a stone-baked pizza at Arbeidern.
A visit to Rundt & Rundt Redesign can be combined with a trip to Gallery & Museum Little Kabelvåg and Lofoten Glass. Storvågan, along with the adventure center SKREI, is located just west of Kabelvåg. Here you will find Gallery Espolin, the Lofoten Aquarium and the Lofoten Museum.
If you would rather get a bird’s eye’s view, then a trip to Dronningtinden is exactly what you seek.
