Ryvarden is located in Sveio, where the mighty sea meets the sky. This was the place where Floke Vilgerdsson, or Ravnafloke, in the year 868 sailed as the first man to settle on an unnamed island which he later named Iceland.
A visit to Ryvarden is exotic in all kinds of weather, this is the place to feel the forces of nature. A 30 minute walk from the parking lot brings you to Ryvarden Lighthouse where you can spend the night in the former lightkeeper's house and eat Norwegian waffles at the lighthouse café. Ryvarden is also the location of the popular Flokehyttene cabins - unique accommodation close to the sea.
