Sandsa in Suldal

Sandsa in Ryfylke is an El Dorado for families with children in one of Suldal's most beautiful mountain pasture areas.
Sandsa Cabin is beautifully situated in one of Suldal's most stunning mountain pasture areas. The easy access from the construction road leading in from Gullingen makes the cabin an excellent starting point for children and families. From the construction road to the cabin, along the west side of Sandsavatnet, there is a marked trail that takes about 2.5 hours to walk. It is also possible to borrow the Stavanger Tourist Association's boat on Sandsavatnet and use it for transportation across the water to the cabin. In that case, please contact the Tourist Center well in advance and at least one week before departure. Fun activities for the children include mud football in the marsh between the cabin and Sandsvatnet, swimming in a pond on the hillside behind the cabin, or cooking on a campfire in the clearing outside the cabin.
The area around Sandsa Cabin offers a diverse range of nature experiences. You can explore the surrounding nature and hike to the summits of Napen (1350 meters above sea level), Reinsnuten (1144 meters above sea level), and Svinstølnuten (1178 meters above sea level). To the north, steep mountainsides hang over the cabin, while to the southeast, you can see the characteristic shape of Svulstanuten and further away, Napen. The area is a traditional mountain pasture, and there was mountain farming here until 1949. Discoveries made in the area indicate that there may have been farming as early as the Iron Age.
The cabin has a total of 49 sleeping places and is therefore very suitable for larger groups, parties, teams, and school trips. It is unstaffed and, therefore, without a food supply.
