Sculptures at Fredriksten fortress

  • Kommandantens hage, Fredriksten Festning, Halden
  •  /  km From You

Laura Ford (1961–) is a British sculptor. She studied at Bath Academy of Art (1978-82) and at Chelsea School of Art (1982-83). Her work is represented in many public collections, mainly in Britain and USA. Ford uses a variety of materials, hard and soft, from bronze to fabric and ceramic creating figures from the imagination or fantasy. The bronze sculptures may be seen as comic and playful, but they also have an uncanny feel about them. There is no right or wrong way to look at the sculptures of Laura Ford, and you need no references to art history to approach them. They are invitations from Ford to play, and to interpret them with your own stories.
