Sjøholmen is an open to the public art and culture house set in a historic villa by the sea in Sandvika. Located along the coastal path, you as a visitor have a fantastic hiking area right outside. The house has a nice café, a terrace with sea views, a magic loft and activities for children and hosts creative courses for adults.
Sjøholmen has an extensive program with weekly art schools, lectures and workshops for all ages! See our website for calendar and tickets!
In the old living rooms on the ground floor you will find our homely cafe during the day with Bærum's best views and outdoor seating. Sales exhibition on the walls. It serves simple lunch dishes and good cakes. The venue can also be rented for parties, birthdays, funerals, events and corporate events.
On the 2nd floor of Sjøholmen you will find 8 artists in their studios that you can only visit. Bjørg Thorhallsdottir's Lykkehaven is located on the 2nd floor of Sjøholmen. Bjørg is one of our most beloved artists, author, lecturer and designer. Lykkehaven is much more than a gallery - and gift shop - here you can pick up refills in the difficult phases of life.
JASON TAYLORS UNDERWATER SCULPTURE PARK
In the bay below Sjøholmen you will find Jason Taylor's unique underwater sculpture park. 12 sculptures are submerged under water, forming artificial reefs that bring life back to the sea. A bathing platform carries a bronze sculpture of a man showing a girl where the sculptures are located - and that the sea is our common responsibility. Taylor has more than 1000 sculptures placed under water all over the world. The park can be seen on a screen inside, or you can snorkel to see the upper ones - or dive to see them all. We have an underwater sculpture map
Welcome to Sjøholmen
