Skåtøy is the largest of Kragerø’s islands with its own school, cafe & gallery, nice walking trails and Norway’s third largest timbered church.

Skåtøy is the largest island in the archipelago of Kragerø, with a Montessori school and about 250 residents. Skåtøy has a rich and exciting cultural program all year round. There are galleries with exhibitions and concerts at the Skåtøy Kafé & Galleri. Skåtøy song and poetry festival is held every year with several famous artists and friendly audience in an intimate atmosphere.

Krikken Coastal Fort lies on the outermost shore of western Skåtøy. The fort was built by the Germans during the second World War. Trenches, underground rooms and passageways have now been opened to the public. A stop here is an exciting experience steeped in history. Children will enjoy the opportunity to explore the area. Don’t forget to bring a torch with you! Every summer the Cave Concert in the main bunker on Krikken.

Many artists and writers have stayed on the island and have been inspired by the scenic islands. Skåtøy Kafé & Galleri is the island's meeting point. Here sits tourists, residents, writers, musicians, children and philosophers side by side enjoying the relaxing atmosphere.
