Skarvan and Roltdalen National park is located in Nord-Trøndelag. The area has been protected since 2004, and is made up of mountains, valleys and marshlands.
Rich in cultural heritage after being in use for about 2000 years; here you will find mountain hamlets, traces of both settlement from before the Black Death and of Sami settlement, and several other historical remnants.
The area has several tourist cabins, one of them being the Schulz cabin which has been in use for over 60 years and is situated in the middle of the national park.
A popular way of getting to the area from Stjørdal to Skarvan is via the reststop/parking lot by Sildra in Sona. You will see the sign from E14, approx. 18 km East of Stjørdal center. This is a toll road. On the way to Sildra you will pass Son Waterfall, the largest waterfall in Stjørdal. Sildra has benches, tables, a barbecue area and restrooms.
