Ski touring and snowmobile in Svalbard`s nature – unique combination - Backyard Svalbard

Do you want to combine skiing and snowmobile? We drive out to the foot of the mountain and starts from there. There are still mountains around Svalbard that few people have ever been skiing. We design the trip to your wishes and experiences.

There are few places in the world you can do such an activity – ski touring and snowmobile driving! In Svalbard you can do so.

In the wilderness of Svalbard there are thousands of mountains to explore. The average height of the mountains is 700-1000m. Choosing the mountain of the day is not easy when you have these opportunities around. We consider the conditions, the weather and the group's experience level – and then we head out into the wilderness.

You will drive your own snowmobile to the foot of the mountain. You don’t need to have skills in snowmobile driving, but you need to bring your driver's license for car, motorbike or snowmobile. Instructions on how to drive will be given before start. If you are sceptical about driving a snowmobile you can join as a passenger on one of the other snowmobiles.

These trips have different levels of difficulty and different durations. Our philosophy is that the destination is not the goal of the trip, but that the trip itself is the goal. Therefore, we’ll choose the main destination in cooperation with the group’s expectations and experience.

The guide meets you 8.00 AM at the hotel. There you will get a briefing of the weather, snow conditions and the plan of the day. The following is an unforgettable experience in the backyard of Longyearbyen. The estimated time frame of the trip is 6 to 8 hours.

On this trip you don’t need to be a confident skier, but you need to have normal physical abilities. After all, we are going to use our bodies for movement.

The trip includes:
- Transportation to and from the hotel
- Lunch
- A certified Svalbard guide with safety equipment.
- Snowmobile and snowmobile clothing

The only thing you need to bring is your backpack with your avalanche equipment and personal clothing.

Minimum 2 participants, maximum 6.

It is possible to rent skis and avalanche equipment.
