Enjoy the joys of mountain life at Skjækerhytta cabin at the north western end of Lake Skjækervatnet with a great view of Snåsa's highest mountain peak; Skjækerhatten Mountain (1139 m.a.s.l) .
Eat self-caght trout for dinner and recharge your batteries with lovely hikes in the surrounding area.
Skjækerhytta cabin is perfect as a base for summit hikes and short and long walks, all year round. You have use of a boat while you rent the cabin and there are good fishing opportunities. Lake Skjækervatnet does not require a fishing license.
You can also go from cabin to cabin in Skjækra where Skjækerhytta is one of the cabins you can stay with on that trip.
If you are an experienced hiker and want a more challenging summit hike, you can hike up to Skjækerhatten mountain top. However, this trip is demanding to reach on a day trip. We recommend an overnight stay each way - Skjækerhytta cabin is well located for accommodation on this trip.

From here you can follow the winter marked trail in winter to Norway's geographic midpoint, but the last bit from the midpoint to the cabin is not marked.
From Snåsa, take the exit from RV 763 at Breide and drive towards Imsdalen to bomsted Roktdalsvegen. From here follow Roktdalsvegen to Ålnessetra and exit the road. Drive to the parking lot at end of road. The exit is signposted. Follow Skjækerstien from the parking lot in Roktdalen, around Nåvatn and to the cabin. There is a distance of about 12 km. Roktdalen is not ploughed in the winter. On snowy roads, the distance is therefore 21 km.
