Overview
Details

The third big-wall peak in Ryfylke, after Kjerag and Preikestolen. You're guaranteed a sense of dizzying awe near the Skomakarnibbå with its overhang down to the Jøsenfjorden 700m below.

Hagalid - Skomakarnibbå - Hagalid

Skomakarnibbå (The Shoemaker's Crag) at 700 meters is a distinctive mountain south of the Jøsenfjord in Hjelmeland, Ryfylke, that can be viewed in profile from the National Tourist Route Ryfylke (Rv 13) between Vadla and Vindsvik. The mountain's name has its origins in an old saga.

Skomakarnibbå is a great place to walk to. The walk starts at the car park 200 meters before the farm buildings at Hagalid. The path, which goes through varied and attractive terrain, is 7 kilometres long, climbs about 400 metres and is steep in parts. Wet bog-area before you get to mount Øksnafjellet where you can enjoy the view. On a clear day there are fantastic views of the mountains, fjord and islands from the viewpoint at Skomakarnibbå.

Time: 2,5 hours each way. Season: May - October. NB! It`s not possible to do this hike in the winter, only summer season!

Suitable footwear, walking sticks and fitness are essentials for this walk. Remember food and something to drink!  You should not attempt to go out on Skomakarnibbå itself.
