Skyss provides public transport in the county Vestland (including Bergen). With the Bergen Card you can travel for free by bus, boat or the Bergen Light Rail!
You can travel by the Bergen Light Rail to visit Edvard Grieg's home Troldhaugen and Fantoft Stave Church, or by bus to visit for example Old Bergen, Lysøen Island, the Hardangerfjord or Odda. (scroll down for more information about travelling with the Bergen Card).
Public transport within the city center:
Bergen city center is compact and best explored by foot. Within the city center it is easier to walk than to take the bus. From Bryggen it takes 5 minutes to the Fish Market and another few minues to the Fløibanen funicular by foot. The Tourist Information is also located centrally on the Fish Market.
To and from Bergen Airport Flesland:
You can travel with Bybanen (Bergen Light Rail) line number 1 to and from Bergen Airport Flesland (zone A) to Bergen city center (zone A). Tickets can be purchased at a Skyss ticket machine, by SMS or with the mobile app Skyss Billett. You can not buy a ticket on board the train. See below for more info on how to buy tickets with Skyss.

Ticket machines:
Buy a single ticket at Skyss' ticket machines at all Bergen Light Rail stops, at some bus stops in central Bergen and at bus terminals in the Bergen area. (only zone A available at the machines. Zone A includes Bergen Airport Flesland). Pay using bank card (Visa, Mastercard or Maestro), smartphone or smartwatch.
On board the bus:
You can purchase a single ticket and a 24-hour pass from the driver. You can pay with cash or a debit card. We recommend that all passengers purchase tickets in advance. (It is not possible to buy a ticket on board the Bybanen)
With SMS:
Send an SMS to telephone number 2412 with the code word for the ticket you want:
Vaksen (adult)
Honnør (senior)
Barn (child)
Make sure to only write the norwegian word.
The tickets for zone A is valid for 90 minutes from purchase time.

Prices 2024:
Adults from 18 years old: NOK 47
Children accompanied by a paying adult are free. (4 children per adult).
If you travel with more than 4 children, the price is NOK 24 per child from 6 years old.
Senior: NOK 24
Bergen Light Rail (Bybanen) and buses uses the same ticket system and the ticket is valid for 90 minutes.

Bergen and the region are devided into different zones. All of Bergen city center and the whole of Bergen municipality is zone A.
Zone A: Zone Bergen includes the municipalities of Bergen (incl. the airport), Askøy, Øygarden, Osterøy, Alver, Austrheim, Fedje and previous Os.
Zone B: The areas around the Bjørnefjord.
Zone C: Sunnhordland
Zone D: Odda, Eidfjord and Rosendal
Zone E: Voss, Granvin and Ulvik
Zone F: Samnanger, Kvam, Vaksdal and Modalen
Zone G: Masfjorden
BERGEN CARD HOLDERS: FREE TRAVEL WITH SKYSS:
With the Bergen Card, you can travel for free on Skyss public transport within Bergen and Vestland County. This includes buses and the Light Rail to and from the airport. Please note that the Airport Bus from Bergen city center to Flesland Airport is not included.
The card is valid for travel with Skyss to places like Odda, Voss, Flåm, and throughout the Hardangerfjord area. It also covers the boat to Askøy and Nordhordland, but only within Zone A.
Travel from Bergen to Odda:
• Take Skyss bus 930 from Bergen Bus Station to Odda Station. Passangers are free on the ferry crossing between Tørrvikbygd - Jondal.
• Travel time: 3 hours.
Please note that it is not possible to take the bus from Bergen and do the hike up Trolltunga on the same day. (The hike is about 12 hours).
Travel from Bergen to Voss:
• Take Skyss bus 950 from Bergen Bus Station to Voss Station.
• Travel time: 1 hour 40 minutes. (Note: This bus operates only once a day, around 18:30. Check Skyss.no for exact departure time).
• Express buses and trains to Voss are faster and have frequent departures, but are not included in the Bergen Card.
Travel from Bergen to Flåm:
Skyss bus is the only free option with the Bergen Card, but we do not recommend it due to the long travel time.
Travel times to Flåm:
• By Skyss bus: 8-9 hours
• By express bus: 3 hours
• By car: 2 hours 45 minutes
• By train: 3 hours 20 minutes (including the famous Flåm Railway)
