We go to beautiful Kapp Linnè, situated in the outermost part of Isfjorden. Here we find Isfjord Radio, 80 km from Longyearbyen, and without any road access.
Isfjord Radio was first listed in 1933, but the station was destroyed during the evacuation of Svalbard in 1941. Only after the war the station was rebuilt. Previously, this was a hub for all telecommunication services to the mainland, but is now replaced by broadband connection.
Upon arrival at Isfjord Radio we are greeted by the hosts who welcome us with warm lunch.
