Join us on an amazing adventure to Tempelfjord, were the Tuna Glacier lies frozen into the sea ice. In front of the towering walls of blue ice, the frozen fjord stretches towards the Tempel Mountain. Ring seals sunbathe on the ice here, and Polar bears are not uncommon! February 2016 It has been unusually warm this far in 2016, and as of February there is no fjord ice on the Tempelfjord. As such we are unable to reach the glacier wall in the fjord. This snowmobile tour will still be run, however we will use more time in the area used for hunitng and trapping by 'The King of Sassen', Hilmar Nøis. The guide will also explain and demonstrate different hunting techniques and help the participants imagine life as a lonely hunter in the Arctic.
Attention! Due to the lack of sea ice the route might be changed! We are equipped and given an introduction in how to drive a snowmobile before setting off towards Tempelfjorden. The usual route takes us through Adventdalen, onwards through Eskerdalen before entering Sassendalen. Alternatively we go through Helvetiadalen and De Geerdalen and down towards Sassenfjorden.
We ride up towards the ragged glacier face of the Tuna and Von Post glacier and stop there for lunch (drytec). If the weather is nice we can select a different route for the return journey.
