This tour is conducted by Roy Sætre Arctic Trip. A scenic drive to the countryside, a hike with snowshoes through snow covered landscape, homemade food for dinner, and a northern lights chase in the evening.
This trip optimizes your chances to see the northern lights during the evening.
A great way to spend a day in the arctic with the locals. During this trip you will be introduced to snowshoeing, a winter activity with a lot of fun. You will be well guided along the way, and the focus is to learn to snowshoe and to feel the freedom to walk through snowcovered landscapes, the Northern Norwegian forest and valley. Breathe the fresh arctic air and listen to the silence. After the snowshoeing you will be free to try out cross-country skiing, tobogganing, learn to make a campfire and try other bushcraft activities. We will provide you with all equipment needed for the activities.
We will serve you dinner, local, homemade food.
As it gets darker, we will get ready for the northern lights chase. You will get a short night photography course before we leave, and we will help you with your camera settings. Your northern lights guide, Roy, has over ten years experience in northern lights guiding, and will share of his knowledge and tips. In addition to traditional pictures, we also have equipment to take 360 pictures and 4k video of Northern Lights, if the conditions allow us to.
Our day activities are located in Nordkjosbotn, an hour drive from Tromsø toward the inland. When we start our Northern Lights Chase from Nordkjosbotn, we can reach further south, further north, further east and further west during the evening, compared to tours starting from Tromsø. This will result in a better chance to see the northern lights when the weather is not perfect. We have also an excellent chance to see early northern lights as well, as we already are away from the city lights when it starts to get dark.
Included: English speaking guides, snowshoes, poles, thermal suit, winter boots, hat, mittens, dinner, a short night photography course. Pictures (raw and jpeg) and videos from the tour. Chocolate, nuts, biscuits, hot drinks. Transportation from Nordkjosbotn bus stop and drop-off at your hotel in Tromsø after the northern lights chase. Tripod available on request.
Please bring: Your passport in case we need to cross the border to Finland. Warm clothes. Woolsocks are recommended.
