Solheimstulen Tourist Cabin DNT

Solheimstulen is a historic tourist cabin located at the gateway to Hardangervidda. The cabin has welcomed guests traveling across the plateau for over 100 years – and it has now also received a new and more modern interior.

Solheimstulen has 62 beds spread across 22 rooms. Here, you can choose between double rooms, family rooms (double bed and two single beds), or 4-bed rooms.

We have several rooms where dogs are allowed, but this must be notified in advance. We greatly appreciate advance booking, and it is also possible to order dinner for non-overnight guests.

There are new rooms for people with mobility challenges, and they are wheelchair accessible for both access and overnight stays.

A 3-course dinner is served every day during the high season, and a breakfast buffet is available from 8:00 AM. Guests prepare their own packed lunch and fill thermoses for the day. They have a full license and serve homemade food of high quality.

There are two larger fireplace lounges, and it is possible to book one of these for a private event. The cabin also has a large and beautiful dining hall, as well as cozy seating areas in its cafe.

They run a daytime cafe where we serve homemade cakes and other baked goods, in addition to hot dishes.

The cabin works excellently as a starting or ending point for those who want longer trips into the plateau, both in summer and winter.

Red-marked trails lead to Imingfjell, Mårbu, Rauhelleren, and Åan. There are several nice day trips and peak hikes in the surrounding area – we have plenty of good tips!

The cabin is accessible by car year-round. Arrival is from County Road 40 Dagalifjell, turn-off signposted to Solheimstulen at Uvdal Ski Resort.

Public transport is available by bus to Hagankrysset at Uvdal Ski Resort or train to Geilo.
