From sawmill to gallery

At Sanne and Soli Brug timber logs has been cut into board as early as the 1600s. In the period 1860-1880, the mill was Northern Europe's largest, with twenty-two sawmills and approx. six hundred workers. In 1925, the sawmill closed.

Since 1975, the Dørje-Berg family has taken care and restored the remaining buildings. Soli Brug is today a place with eight preserved houses and sawmill ruins by the Ågårdselva river.

Since 1978, Soli Brug has developed into an important source for art. Soli Brug has significant exhibitions here at Soli Brug and there are between 10 and 20,000 visitors from all over the country. In a historic setting, the public can experience art in seven houses and visit the restaurant by the pond. In the yard there are also the private home for the family, a frame workshop, and a studio.
