Sommarøy Fjord Tour with Local Guide and Photos

Join us on a scenic day tour from Tromsø to explore the Arctic fjords, charming coastal villages, and dramatic landscapes that define this part of Northern Norway. Led by a friendly and knowledgeable local guide, this small-group experience combines nature photography, light activity, and cultural insights – all in one memorable day.

We depart from Tromsø city center and travel westward along one of Northern Norway’s most beautiful coastal routes. Along the way, we make several scenic photo stops – including the spectacular Ersfjord, surrounded by steep mountain sides, and the white sands of Sandvika Beach, which lend an unexpected tropical touch to the Arctic landscape.

The tour continues toward Sommarøy, a beautiful coastal village known for its turquoise waters and island-studded seascape. Weather and conditions permitting, we’ll take a hike to Ørnfløya, a scenic hilltop just outside Sommarøy. The trail is easy and suitable for most fitness levels, with an elevation gain of about 155 meters. The hike typically takes around 30 minutes up and 30 minutes down at a relaxed pace. From the top, you'll enjoy sweeping 360° views over Sommarøy, Hillesøy, Brensholmen, the island of Senja, and the open sea – a perfect spot for landscape photography and a quiet moment with nature.

After the hike, we enjoy a light lunch at a peaceful coastal spot – either outside with sea views or inside the minibus, depending on weather conditions.

We then visit Eide Handel, a well-known family-run store that has served the local community since 1953. Known for its selection of local meat, seafood, and traditional delicacies, it offers a unique glimpse into Arctic food culture. Guests are welcome to browse or pick up something to enjoy later at their accommodation.

During the drive and stops, there’s a chance to spot Arctic wildlife – including reindeer, sea eagles, and other birds, depending on the season. We also include professional photos from the tour, which will be emailed to you the following day.

We return to Tromsø in the afternoon and drop you off at the same central location where the tour began.
