Spelhustoppen: A Historical Walk Through Power Heritage and Engineering Excellence

Join us on a family-friendly and exciting guided tour to Spelhuset, located 580 meters above sea level. Here, you will learn about the winch system that transported equipment and personnel up and down the track between the power station in Hellandsbygd and the Dalvatn Dam, which gave the location its name "Spelhustoppen." Høgåsen is marked on the map as the summit and is another 50 meters higher than Spelhuset, offering a fantastic view of Hellandsbygd and the impressive dam in Slettedalen.

Along the way, you'll see a number of well-preserved megastructures that clearly demonstrate the bravery and skill of those who built and used the facility. Both the pipeline route and the trolley track can be glimpsed along the route and serve as great landmarks to the top.
The tour starts at the chapel in Hellandsbygd, about 17 km from Sauda town center, along the National Tourist Route Ryfylke. From here, we will walk up to Spelhuset, where you’ll gain a unique insight into Ryfylke’s rich power history.
