Welcome to our hostel, an oasis in the middle of Lofoten since 1975. Whether you are on a short trip through the area or looking for a longer holiday stay, we offer accommodation in charming, traditional rooms and cabins/fishermen’s cabins (rorbuer). The atmosphere is both authentic and warm, and you will experience an international environment where people from all over the world meet in the shared kitchen or down by the quay.
We are located in the idyllic village of Stamsund – right in the heart of Lofoten. Here, you will find the perfect starting point for exploring the islands. The hostel is situated in its own little bay, right by the sea, where you can enjoy the tranquility as you stroll along the pier. With views of both mountains and the sea, we offer a unique combination of nature experiences and relaxation.
Accommodation We offer budget-friendly accommodation for all needs. Choose between dormitories, private rooms, and fully equipped cabins/fishermen’s cabins (rorbuer). Our common areas, both indoors and outdoors, are ideal for socializing. We also have large, well-equipped shared kitchens that make it easy to prepare your own meals.
Activities To make your stay even more memorable, we offer a range of free activities such as: Fishing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), rowboat, and bicycles for exploring the local area. Do you enjoy hiking? Put on your hiking boots and start your hike right outside the hostel door! Steinetinden and Stamsundheia offer spectacular views in the hostel’s backyard.
Sauna After a day of activities, you can enjoy a relaxing time in our wood-fired sauna with beautiful views over the harbor.
Explore Lofoten Our central location makes it easy to experience everything Lofoten has to offer. Within just an hour’s drive, you can reach large parts of the archipelago. Experience the midnight sun in summer, the northern lights in winter, surfing opportunities at Unstad, or ski touring in the winter season.
Location and Accessibility
The hostel is located:
- 15 minutes from Leknes
- 30 minutes from Haukland and Uttakleiv
- 40 minutes from Unstad
- 1 hour from Svolvær
- 1.5 hours from Moskenes
Stamsund is a port of call for both Hurtigruten and Havila, with direct connections from Bodø and Svolvær. From the quay, it is about a 20-minute walk or a 2-minute drive to the hostel.
