Steinkjer Cultural Centre

Steinkjer Cultural Center is a cultural hub that brings together people of all generations in the heart of Steinkjer. Here, you can experience exciting performances, innovative cultural communication in the multimedia room called “Steinkaret,” a state-of-the-art cinema, and the art spaces Jakob and Telegrafen. Additionally, the Egge Museum’s exhibition room, HEIM, is also part of this vibrant centre.

Steinkjer library
The library spans three floors:
First floor
: The children and youth section features gaming zones, seating areas, and its own amphitheater with a diverse program.
Second floor: This floor offers spaces for deeper study, including meeting rooms, study areas, and several work and seating zones. It’s also home to the People’s Workshop, a creative meeting place with free access to sewing machines, 3D printers, and more.
Third floor: Known as Utsikten, the library’s mezzanine provides study spots and the opportunity for smaller events.

Steinkjer Cinema
The cinema boasts four halls and three unique hall concepts! With cutting-edge technology, Steinkjer Cinema delivers the ultimate movie experience. Whether you’re watching the latest films or enjoying classics, bring your friends along for the best cinematic adventure!.

Jacob gallery
Kunstrom Jakob
 is a visual arts exhibition space located within the new Steinkjer Cultural Center. Through rotating exhibitions, it sheds light on the legacy of artist Jakob Weidemann while serving as a vibrant platform for national and local contemporary art. Operated by Nils Aas Kunstverksted, a part of Museene Arven, in collaboration with Steinkjer Municipality12.

Telegrafen gallery:
Telegrafen is a gallery featuring changing exhibitions of modern contemporary art by both local artists and others. Visitors can explore traveling exhibitions and original displays encompassing various art forms such as photography, painting, sculpture, video art, graphics, textiles, and drawing. The gallery hosts approximately 8-10 exhibitions annually.
Beyond exhibitions, Telegrafen also serves as a venue for other events, including book discussions, lectures, and smaller concerts.

HEIM - archaeological artefacts
HEIM is a collaborative project involving NTNU VitenskapsmuseetSteinkjer Municipality, and Museene Arven at Egge Museum. The Steinkjer and Innherred regions boast rich archaeological discoveries, yet today, one must venture beyond the region to experience them. With HEIM, a unique platform for archaeological material is established within Steinkjer Cultural Center. In this new cultural hub, ancient findings finally return home to meet today’s residents and visitors.

Steinkaret - Concert and experience room
Steinkaret is Norway’s first immersive experience room of its kind. Here, you can participate in four unique events at scheduled times:
“Jakob and Neikob-land” by Kari Stai and ablemagic.
“BYEN” (The City) by Magne Rygh and ablemagic.
“Bloddråpetrall” (Blood Drop Song) by Pekka Stokke, inspired by Jakob Weidemann.
“Hilmar i Steinkaret” (Hilmar in Steinkaret) by ablemagic, along with the Hilmar Festival.

Petite Famille: Bakery and Café
Located in the foyer on the main floor, the house’s café and bakery offer delectable lunch dishes, cakes, and the option to take home bakery goods from the shelves.
