Stekvasselv Gård
Stay in the heart of the mountain wilderness with a variety of hiking opportunities, whether you want to walk on foot, climb high peaks, or go small game hunting. If you’re hiking along the Nordland Route, this is a good place to stay overnight.
Stekvasselv Farm is beautifully situated in the mountain wilderness near Røssvatnet in Hemnes. The area is a paradise for outdoor activities all year round, whether you come with family or friends. In the summer, you can hike along marked trails around Okstindan, go on a glacier tour – or perhaps you prefer small game hunting. In winter, there is great and varied skiing terrain for both ski touring and cross-country skiing.
In late summer and autumn, you can forage for berries and mushrooms in the wild. Mushroom picking is like going on a treasure hunt. You have to search for the goodies, and when you’re standing there in a forest floor covered in golden chanterelles, you forget all the effort. Bring along a berry bucket, basket, knife, and a mushroom guidebook if you’re coming in the fall.
The terrain is varied with gentle valleys, high mountains, glaciers, and fishing lakes. If you’re hiking all or part of the Nordlandsruta, consider adding a night’s stay at Stekvasselv Farm. The hosts can provide provisions, meals, and transportation to/from the trail (2 km) by arrangement.
Accommodation
There are two houses available for rent, each accommodating up to 10 people and fully equipped with everything needed for self-catering.
Price:
Accommodation in a made-up bed – NOK 400 per person per night.
Weekly rate NOK 2400 per person.
Meal service must be arranged in advance as the offer is primarily based on self-catering. As a guest, you can arrange for the purchase of provisions and other goods by agreement.
If you wish to fish for your own dinner, you can rent a boat or canoe. In winter, you can go ice fishing. Did you know that Røssvatnet is Norway’s second-largest lake?
