The Storhaugen Farm is situated high and free at 2300 feet above sea level, enjoying fine views towards Bøverdalen and Jotunheimen and breheimen. Storhaugen is a living farm with sheeps and cows.
Storhaugen is a good starting point for excursions to mountain peaks and glaciers, summer skiing in the Sognefjellet mountains and at Galdhøpiggen Summer Ski Centre, Sognefjorden, potholing, rafting, nature trails, culture, fishing. The opportunities are many, summer and winter.
The farm contains distinctive log cabins built by Jørgine Boomer, a farm girl from Bøverdalen who became manageress of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. Jørgine emigrated to Amerika when she was 15 years old. She bought Storhaugen and had it as her holiday paradise for the rest of her life, . There are also some apartments in newly-restored log buildings, moved from Storsveen in Bagn, which formerly served as a coaching house. All accommodation is well equipped, with shower, toilet, and fully-equipped self-catering kitchen. Some units also have adishwasher. The living rooms are roomy (and some have log fires). Units accommodate between 2 and 15 persons. Sleeps 80 in all.
Come to our mountain village, experience living culture and a dramatic landscape at the foot of Galdhøpiggen, with fresh air and clean running water.
