WINTER ACTIVITIES AROUND STRAND FJELLSTUE

Cross-country ski runs

The Espedalen valley and Strand Fjellstue are perfect if you like skiing.  Our network of prepared cross-country ski runs is 60 km long.  It is linked to the other cross-country ski networks in the Espedalen valley so that 200 km of well prepared ski runs are open to you.

The cross country ski runs are partly in the mountains as well in beautiful woodlands.  So you may og skiing in practically any weather.  In the birch woods you are protected against wind and weather and on the mountain runs, which are very well marked, you can experience the high mountains with a fantastic view of the Rondane and Jotunheimen mountains.

Shelters.

Strand Fjellstue has access to shelters where you can eat your own food.  You may also spend the night in these shelters, some are subject to arrangement.

Downhill slopes

The best slalom slopes are to be found at the Olympic winter sports facilities in Kvitfjell and Hafjell – an hour's drive from Strand Fjellstue.

Ski hire

Strand Fjellstue has a separate room for waxing and serviceing skis.  Cross-country and mountain skiis for hire.

Strand Fjellstue (the Strand Mountain Lodge) belongs to Kari Anne and Tom Sukkestad and overlooks the 12 km long, idyllic lake Espedalsvatnet, 730 meters above sea level, 60 km to the northwest of Lillehammer.  The Lodge has 18 rooms with 46 beds.

Strand was originally a farm but has been run as a guesthouse since 1935.  With expansions and extensions the owners have succeeded in creating a cosy atmosphere where guests feel at home.
